* I enjoyed reading this book. Evan explains how to create an attractive online dating profile without writing a long boring novel that nobody would like to read!
* Unlike what all the negative reviews about this book would make you believe, I think that this book contains information which is neither outdated nor pure common sense that everyone knows! Quite the contrary, judging by how people are doing it all wrong when it comes to online dating, I can safely say that everyone needs a copy of this book! It is full of useful tips which are not only easy-to-read but also funny and entertaining at the same time!
* There is a right way and a wrong way of approaching online dating. After reading this book, I realized that I have been doing it all wrong, and that the author is absolutely right about what he says in his book. Why? It is because after following the advice of Evan's book, I have been attracting cute women in hordes; in fact, I have a date the following week and I am actually looking forward to meeting someone beautiful!
* As a single woman over 35, I found this book to be very helpful. As such, I believe that this book is a must read for you if you are a single woman interested in online dating, and want to have a good laugh while learning basic online dating skills!
* I had trouble meeting people offline after my divorce. At the same time, I was also not very skilled in online dating. One of my friends suggested this book to me and I was amazed at how witty and helpful it was in explaining the necessary online dating skills to me!
* I was a total newbie to online dating and I am glad I ordered this book! Although a lot of this book is just common sense, the author offers you actual, specific examples on how to actually apply those common sense tips in order to be successful with online dating! Thanks to this book, I finally found my match online, with whom I am now engaged (soon to be married). Definitely worth reading!
* I am a woman who was extremely dissatisfied with her online profile. While this book talks about a lot of things that seem to be obvious and common sense, I specifically found pages 36 - 39 to be helpful because that is where the author talks about how to enliven your dull profile in a way that it attracts members of the opposite sex. After following this book's advice, I have been able to spice up my profile to the extent that I am now fully satisfied with it!
* I cannot believe that the author has got everything right when it comes to online dating! This is a terrific book for anyone who is interested in not just online dating but also in online marketing or even online job hunting!
* I bought this book along with another book on online dating. The latter book was authored by 2 PhD's; however, it paled in comparison to Evan's book, which not only contains the best practical advice on online dating, but also teaches you everything you want to know in a fun and entertaining manner! Did I tell you that this book has made a huge difference in my life? Unlike before, now at least 1-2 women write to me every week! What more could I have asked for!
Cons:
* Contrary to what the book promises, it actually suggests you to reveal so much information in your online dating profile that it would read like a small novel to others! Besides, if you say everything in your profile, what would be left for you to say when you meet the person of your dreams face-to-face?
* The real truth is in the book's title! It contains nothing except common sense and obsolete dating tips that you could get easily through a Google search, and for free! This book was probably written back in 2002 when Yahoo! Personals was still available! Since this book's publication, the online dating world has changed drastically and gotten much more competitive, so that even his advice of "ending your message with a joke" sounds basic and old!
* This book's advice could be easily summed up in a few words: be honest with yourself, write a good and positive profile, and add a photo to your profile! If you are completely new to the world of online dating, you may get some help out of it; however, if you have been dating online for a couple of years then much of the book would sound like basic common sense to you! The information given here was more helpful a decade ago when the online dating world was not as competitive as it is now!
* This book contains information that would be of help mainly to newbies. As the author is a dating consultant, it only makes sense for him to publish a trite book such as this that gets him more business! The only *helpful* part of the book is the one which talks about being honest on your profile; the not-so-helpful part is where he talks about the 5 dating profiles he helped people to create! Apparently these "profiles" are supposed to help you write your own, but would actually end with your seeking Katz's paid consultation!
* The first part of the book's title is correct! If you spend money on this book, you may soon find yourself banging your head against the wall and exclaiming "I cannot believe I bought this book"! The contents of this book is not only too blatantly obvious, it is also shallow and highly sexist! Perhaps a book on organic gardening would be more helpful in fixing a romantic a date for you!
* Outdated information that you might find useful only if you know absolutely NOTHING about online dating!
* I cannot believe I purchased this book! I thought that (the author being a male) this book would offer a male perspective for us 35-year old single women! However, I was disappointed to find that most of the advice in it is geared towards young guys looking toward attracting hot babes! On top of that, the advice in this book is quite obvious (as that of putting a honest profile and a smiling photo, stuff that I already knew when I bought this book) and unrealistic (as in the promise of having hundreds of men waiting for you at your doorstep, which is quite unlike the experience I have had with online dating) at the same time! The only good thing is that the author's style is quite humorous and engaging; however, unless you are a woman under 30, save your money and don't buy this book!
CONCLUSION:
Well, so many people like outdated advice that it is unbelievable - and to top it all, they loved the book so much that all of them rated it no less than 5 stars! Okay, you know that I am being sarcastic here. There is no doubt that most of the reviews are fake and that the reviewers were probably paid big bucks to post these reviews; or perhaps the author himself posted all these 5-star reviews under different account names? In any case, I am not recommending this book to you (or for that matter, any book that mentions Yahoo! Personals, since it has been long been replaced with Match.com; if you don't believe me, check out Wikipedia)!
If at all you wanna buy something useful, buy Dating For Dummies, NOT this book!

BTW, I did laugh out loud at the "too good to be true" description he posted about his wife on his Amazon profile, but maybe that is just me! Or may be, just like his book, his wife's profile is meant to be taken as a joke and not all too seriously? In any case, the author has a good sense of humor; I would give him that!

Billed as a "personal trainer for smart, strong, successful women," dating coach Evan Marc Katz has been helping singles find love since 2003. Dozens of his clients have gotten married, started families, and found happiness - after only a few months of phone coaching.
